MELISSA “MEL” DIAZ

JANUARY 07, 1969 - APRIL 18, 2024

Melissa “Mel” Diaz, passed away suddenly on April 18, 2024. The earth is a little darker and the stars in heaven shine a little brighter since Mel’s passing.

Born on January 07, 1969, in El Paso, Texas to Armando Diaz and Alicia Rios Rivera, Mel was raised in El Paso, Texas. She attended William Burgess High School in El Paso and graduated in 1987. After graduating, Mel moved to Dallas and worked in the Customer Service field for many years. She returned to El Paso where she earned her Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 2013 at Vista College in El Paso. Afterward, she returned to Dallas for more than 10 years where she resided until her passing.

Mel was employed by the Dallas County Clerk’s Office Misdemeanor Collections for the last 10 years. She loved her job, her co-workers and working with people.

In March 2014, she met the love of her life Tracy. They were married on June 18, 2016, and continued to reside in Dallas until her passing.

Mel loved life! She was often the life of the party, making sure everyone was having a good time. She was also an avid sports fan! She would almost always wear her team’s jersey on game day and was a die-hard fan of New York Yankees Baseball, Dallas Cowboys Football, Dallas Stars Hockey, and San Antonio Spurs Basketball. WIN or Lose, she always supported her teams! Mel loved to listen to various types of music, but her most favorites were the groups Queen and Culture Club.

Mel was a supporter of many charitable organizations including the Royal Sovereign Imperial Court of the Texas Riviera Empire of Corpus Christi, The United Court of the Lone Star Empire of Dallas, Sharon St. Cyr Fund of Dallas and Texas Gay Rodeo Association, Dallas Chapter.

Preceded in death by her Father, Armando, Mother, Alicia and Brother, Paul Diaz, Mel is survived by Wife, Tracy Diaz; Step Son, Tre Johnson of Corpus Christi, TX; Step Dad, Enrique Rivera of El Paso, TX; Brother, Armando Diaz Jr. & wife Karen of San Antonio, TX; Brother, Eddie Diaz & wife Susan of El Paso, TX; Sister, Edna Diaz of Garland, TX; Brother, Enrique Rivera and wife Sahara of Arlington, TX; numerous Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews. She also leaves behind her precious Fur Babies, Piglet, Lucy & Benji. Mel had scores of loving friends who will all feel a void with her passing.

A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
